Karl J. Friston is a British neuroscientist and theoretical biologist at University College London. He is known for the free energy principle and active inference frameworks in computational neuroscience, and for foundational work in statistical parametric mapping and dynamic causal modelling. He is Scientific Director of the Wellcome Centre for Human Neuroimaging.
